Laodikeia was founded as a city in the Hellenistic Period around the middle of the third century BCE.

Laodikeia is located north of the modern city of Denizli, Turkey. Excavations prove that textile  production, still very important for the Denizli area, goes back thousands of years. Loom weights, dated  to 4000 years ago, and textile dye houses and dyes, dated to 1600 years ago, have been found in  Laodikeia. *

Wool and textile industries made Laodikeia one of the wealthiest cities in Asia Minor.

Founded by Jeff and Uma, the journey of Barooga started with not only a passion for putting smiles on the faces of our customers but strong values about cultural traditions, ethical sourcing and handmade  craftsmanship. Located in the city of Denizli, the manufacturers in which our products are made allows  us immediate access to the best quality cotton fabrics in all of Europe.
